Laboratory of Molecular Carcinogenesis and Chemoprevention
Inflammation and cancer; Cancer chemoprevention; Tumor microenvironment Our lab is currently studying the molecular biological mechanism of the process of normal cells becoming cancerous, with the research focusing on controlling target molecules crucial to the cancerization process, specifically intracellular signal network. In particular, the lab is spearheading research on ways to inhibit intracellular signal transduction related to inflammation mediated by transcription factors (e.g., NF-kappaB and STAT3) abnormally activated during cancerization, and to strengthen the anti-inflammatory and proresolving defense mediated by NRF2.
